Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty jodi in ' HOUSEFULL 2 '
Randhir Kapoor joins in as he teams up with his brother professionally for the first time.
together with a Mithun versus Rishi jugalbandi (duet). “I couldn’t disappoint the audience,” he reasons. “And what’s more, I also have Dabooji (Randhir Kapoor) and Boman Irani joining them on stage.” The director is understandably tight-lipped about the roles the trio is playing. All he is willing to divulge is that like Akshay Kumar in Part 1, Mithun too will spring a surprise in Part 2, speaking a language he’s never spoken before: “Mithunda is so versatile that I had to wait five years to come up with something he had never done before. For him too, it was a challenge learning a new lingo.” As for the Kapoor brothers, they get to play brothers, Daboo and Chintu, in reel life too. “It’s amazing that in all these years we’ve had different Kapoor combinations on screen, but Randhir and Rishi Kapoor have never come together professionally,” says Sajid. “I had tears in my eyes when they first faced the camera and so did they.” Sajid remembers getting Randhir out of selfimposed hibernation with Housefull (2010) and now surprising his younger brother with a comic role in the sequel. “It’s interesting that Rishiji will begin the year with a dark character in Agneepath, his first negative role, and two months later, will have the audience rolling with laughter after seeing my movie,” he adds. Sajid admits that like everyone else, he believed Rishi to be a strict, serious taskmaster. But he turned out to be the life of Housefull 2. “He would abuse me during the shoot for making me do the kind of things the script called. But when he started dubbing for the film, he admitted that I had pulled it off,” he beams.
